I think this will be a wrong move. Asking suddenly an employee who joined at the age of 18 or 19 to retire at the age 51 or 52 as the average life span of an Indian is increased and by that age nobody is expected to complete his responsibilities like performing the marriage of girl child, settling the son etc., instead Government can give an option to employees to retire on completion of 33 years of with GOLDEN HANDSHAKE like scheme or they can implement the same to the employees joining Govt. service now onwards and they will be prepared to retire on completion of 33 years of service or on attaining the age of 60 years.

Reducing retirement age will be a very positive step. 60 years of age or 33 years of service, whichever is earlier, is definitely going to be a welcome move in view of large number of unemployment. This is a significantly long period to fulfil all family responsibilities. Let the younger generation come forward to shoulder responsibilities.
